Porsche 911 _Designed by Whatakuai ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:193149/#files ) _Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, usually shortened to Porsche AG (German pronunciation: [ˈpɔʁʃə] ( listen)[3]), is a German automobile manufacturer specializing in high-performance sports cars, supercars, hypercars, and lately SUVs and sedans. Porsche AG is headquartered in Stuttgart, and is owned by Volkswagen AG. The current Porsche models include the 911, Boxster, Cayman, Panamera, Cayenne, Macan, and the 918. _Ferdinand Porsche founded the company called "Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH" in 1931,with main offices at Kronenstraße 24 in the centre of Stuttgart. Initially, the company offered motor vehicle development work and consulting, but did not build any cars under its own name. One of the first assignments the new company received was from the German government to design a car for the people, that is a "Volkswagen". This resulted in the Volkswagen Beetle, one of the most successful car designs of all time. The Porsche 64 was developed in 1939 using many components from the Beetle. _The Porsche 911 (pronounced Nine Eleven or German: Neunelf) is the flagship of the current line up of Porsche. It is a two-door, high performance sports car made by Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany. It has a distinctive design with rear-engine and independent rear suspension, an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. Since its introduction in 1963, it has undergone continuous development, though the basic concept has remained little changed. The engine was air-cooled until the introduction of the Type 996 in 1998. _Throughout its lifetime, the 911 has been modified by private teams and by the factory itself for racing, rallying and other forms of automotive competition. It is among the most successful competition cars ever. In the mid-1970s, naturally aspirated 911 Carrera RSRs won major world championship sports car races such as Targa Florio, Daytona, Sebring and Nürburgring, even against prototypes. The 911-derived 935 turbo also won the coveted 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1979.
