Opals are beautiful and valuable. They’re also unique, containing a range of colors that can’t be found in any other gemstone. In this article, we’ll explore the different types of opal from Australia and see how they differ.

Light Opal

Light opal is the most common type and can be found in various colors, including white and light grey. Light opals are usually less valuable than other Australian opals because they’re not as rare or high quality. However, if you’re looking for an affordable piece of jewelry to add to your collection, light opal may be the right choice!

Dark Opal

Dark opals are the most common type of opal, and that’s because they’re also the most affordable. They can be as dark as black or blue-black or nearly translucent with just a hint of color.

Dark opals have an oily luster and many times have a moiré pattern on them—when looking at these stones through the top, you can see a wavy pattern in them; this is what gives it its name: “dark.”

Black Opal

Black opals are the rarest, most valuable, and most difficult to find. They can be found in Australia but mined in Honduras, Mexico, and Brazil.

Black opals are also known as the “black onyx” or “opalite.” They’re called “black” because they have a dark background with lighter flashes that only appear under natural light (making them valuable). Sometimes this black background is gray or brown instead of black.

Because of their rarity and difficulty to find (they’re underground), black opals can cost up to $50 per carat! The best quality ones sell for even more than that–and they take 200 years just to grow!

White Opal

White opals are the most common opal and are usually found in Australia. They can be transparent or translucent, but more often than not, they’re opaque. White opals are made up of silica, which accounts for their white color.

In addition to being the most common type of opal, white opals come in a wide range of sizes—from small earrings to large necklaces. This makes them ideal for anyone looking to add a little bling to their wardrobe without breaking the bank!

Boulder Matrix Opal

It’s important to know that these opals come in wide different varieties. The most common and popular type of opal is boulder matrix opal. This is also known as boulder opal, boulder opal, boulder opal, and boulder opal.

Boulder matrix opals are a type of gemstone formed over millions of years within the earth’s crust by pressure and heat working together with water, creating a unique mix of minerals.

Beautiful and Valuable

You can buy an opal and other perfect collections of gemstones from an online jewelry shop like Adina Eden. You may want to do this because these opals are beautiful and valuable.

There are many different types of these opals: black, white, boulder, crystal, and green, just to name a few. The black ones are the rarest but the most expensive type of opal in Australia. They’re often called “black fire” because they have so much light refraction in them; this makes them look like they’re on fire!

Other kinds of Australian opals have various colors, including reds and greens, as well as blues and pinks. And these are called fancy-color (or “fancy”) varieties because their appearance is so unique compared with other types of gems found around the world today, which makes them extremely special indeed!
